Brewmaster Series: Matt Shotick in Chicago, Illinois

Here’s another set of images from the Brewmasters and Homebrewing portrait series that I have been exploring during the last few months. These two images come from my time with a dear friend, Matt Shotick, who lives in Chicago, Illinois and is a home brewer.

Matt dubbed this particular brew “The Lube.” There’s a shot of just the bottle below. While I was with Matt for this session, he brewed a batch of cherry flavored beer, and he recently produced his first pumpkin brew. I’m excited to sample some when I get to Chicago in the near future!

My goal with each of the Brewmaster Series images has been to focus on the brewer’s personality, not just the beer. The beer itself is secondary to the person brewing the beer. In many cases, the beer is a work from the heart for these brewers. It’s definitely more than just a bottle and cap, and I think it is important to convey that message.
